Program Description
Event Details
Homeschool Reading Club is a monthly meetup for elementary and middle grade children who are homeschooling. It will occur from 12:30PM - 2PM on the second Friday of October & November, and the first Friday of December; 2026 dates TBA. Books and activities are crafted with grades 3-6 in mind, but any child who can sit, listen, & complete the activity more-or-less independently are welcome to attend. Please read the details below or reach out to Ms. Jamie to decide if this event is right for your child! Please register here to participate. There will be extra copies of the book available for checkout to those who want to finish the story at home.
EACH DAY:
From 12:30PM - 1PM, Ms. Jamie will read aloud from the chapter book while listeners enjoy a light snack. After the reading, there will be time for discussion and reactions.
From 1PM - 2PM, attendees will complete an art or writing project inspired by that month's story.
October 10: The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket; activity will be to write, design, & illustrate a menu for a 3 course meal.
November 14: How I Became a Ghost by Tim Tingle; activity will be to illustrate a realistic map based on this historical fiction and/or write a poem inspired by the story.
December 5: Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl; activity will be to write & design a front page newspaper article about an event that takes place in the story.
